We are experts in family and criminal law with years of experience! Legal Practice Director David Quartermaine-Thompson established Balmoral Legal in 2011 to provide personal service in the specialist fields of family and criminal law, having previously been an equity partner in Marks & Sands Lawyers. Since 2006, David has primarily been involved in larger property disputes and children’s matters in the Family Court of Western Australia and criminal trials through several criminal law jurisdictions. David’s experience also extends to Criminal Law, State Administrative Tribunal attendances and Commercial Law. He has advised and appeared as Counsel in criminal and quasi-criminal jurisdictions, and specialises in the areas of criminal charges, traffic offences and Violence Restraining Orders. David has acted for clients in State Administrative Tribunal matters and commercial matters.

David Quartermaine-Thompson
Legal Practice Director
Legal Practice Director, David Quartermain-Thompson, established Balmoral Legal in 2011 to provide personal service in the specialist fields of family and criminal law. David had previously been an equity partner at Marks & Sands Lawyers since 2009.
Since 2006, David has primarily been involved in larger property disputes in the Family Court of Western Australia and criminal trials through several criminal law jurisdictions. The issues facing David’s family law clients have included how detailed corporate structures (many of which encompass substantial property assets held overseas), family trusts, multi-generational farming lands and self-managed superannuation funds are to be divided subsequent to separation.
David continues to act as a barrister and solicitor in child-related matters in the Family Court. These matters have included grandparents seeking to spend time with their grandchildren; parties seeking to protect their children from a spouse with either mental health or addiction issues, and parties who seek to relocate (often internationally) with their children.
David’s experience also extends to Criminal Law, State Administrative Tribunal attendances and Commercial Law. He has advised and appeared as Counsel in criminal and quasi-criminal jurisdictions, and specialises in the areas of criminal charges, traffic offences and Violence Restraining Orders. David has acted for clients in State Administrative Tribunal matters and commercial matters.
David is a Member of the Law Society of Western Australia and the Family Law Practitioners’ Association and is permitted to appear in all jurisdictions from the Magistrates Court through to the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia.
Marissa Tindiglia
Senior Associate
Marissa Tindiglia completed a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Property and Commercial Law, at Curtin University in 2006.
After completing her commerce degree, Marissa then went on to study her Juris Doctor at Murdoch University. Marissa also volunteered with the Innocence Project Western Australia.
During her studies, Marissa assisted in various community legal centres, working mainly in the areas of mental health, criminal law, guardianship, and administration.
Marissa was admitted into the Supreme Court of Western Australia in February 2012 and commenced her role as a solicitor at Balmoral Legal shortly thereafter.
Marissa has gained experience in a wide range of Family Law matters including separation and divorce, de facto relationships, spousal maintenance, arrangements for children and children’s matters, relocation, property and financial settlement and binding financial agreements.
Marissa is a Member of the Law Society of Western Australia and the Family Law Practitioners’ Association.
